Wedding Planning Guide

Wedding and the Reception

  • Get the ushers or groomsmen when seating guests at the ceremony to tell everyone to turn off their mobile phones.
  • Pick dependable attendants. They can be the difference between a frantic day and a pleasant one.
  • Remember to relax and enjoy the meal at your reception, even though you may not think about it you have spent weeks or months deciding on the perfect meal so why not enjoy it.
  • Photos, the designated photographer cannot be in all places at once.
  • Buy some disposable cameras and have these at the ceremony and reception for guests to take additional photos. They turn out really well and you get some truly unique shots that you would not have seen otherwise
  • If you are wanting a photo of your cake cutting, but the photographer is not staying all evening, do a mock cake cutting before your guests enter the reception venue.
  • This also works well as your make-up, hair and grooms jacket and tie are all still in place.
  • Pack along an emergency kit that includes the following: travel sewing kit with thread the colour of your dress and the attendant’s dresses, extra pantyhose or clear nail polish to stop runs, aspirin, tissues, lipstick, powder, nail file, and spot remover.
  • Get your bridesmaids to hand deliver each slice of wedding cake in either bags or boxes.
Guests cannot refuse if everyone is given one.
  • After the wedding, send a thank you note to all your wedding guests.
  • When choosing unique modes of transport, always consider your hair, make-up and wedding dress.
  • When getting your hair and make-up done, always remember to wear a button up shirt.
This applies to the guys as well. Nothing is more embarrassing that having to cut a shirt off
so that the hair or make-up is not damaged.
  • Always order extra invitations and extra food in case you forget to include someone on the original guest list, or guests show up who haven’t RSVP’d.
  • Always try and do something unique at your wedding. Don’t always stick to the traditions,
as this is your special day and can do as you wish. Try arriving to the ceremony in a different style, wearing something unique or taking a theme on to add to your special day.
  • Remember that no matter what you decide to do, just remember to enjoy the day as you have spent, months or even years planning it.

Remember that few weddings are flawless. Mistakes will most likely happen no matter how much you plan. Just relax and let the quirks make your wedding unique and memorable!
