Sample Wedding Reception

  1. Guests arrive to the reception
  2. Bride & Groom’s parents welcome guests to reception
  3. Bride & Groom usually arrive 15-30 minutes after guests
  4. MC welcomes guests and announces Bridal Party arrival
    1. Flower Girls & Page Boys
    2. Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
    3. Chief Bridesmaids and Best Man
    4. Bride & Groom
  5. Grace
  6. Dinner is served (Entree & Main Course)
  7. Toasts and Speeches
    1. MC to introduce the person proposing toast to Bride & Groom
    2. Response and toast to the bridesmaids by the Groom
    3. Response by the best man (on behalf of the Bridesmaids)
    4. Toast to the parents of the Bride
    5. Response by the father of the Bride
    6. Toast to the parents of the Groom
    7. Response by the father of the Groom
    8. Reading of messages (usually by Best Man and Groomsmen)
    9. Any other comments by those who wished to be acknowledged
    10. MC thanks the musicians, caterers, florist, celebrants etc
  8. Cutting of the Cake
  9. Bridal Waltz
    1. Bride and Groom dance by themselves
    2. Bride’s father dances with Bride
    3. Groom invites bride’s mother to dance
    4. Groom’s father dances with Bride
    5. Bride’s father dances with Brides mother
    6. Groom dances with his mother
    7. EVERYONE DANCES
  10. Dessert is served
  11. Bride throws bouquet to single maidens
  12. Groom tosses garter to single men
  13. Dancing
